Sam can color! He actually did his first drawing when he was about 6 months old. I'm serious. One of his favorite books is "The Going to Bed Book" (thanks Steph!) and one day he somehow got ahold of a capless pen. I opened his book later that day to read it to him and he had scribbled (faintly but definitely visibly) on the first page! I couldn't believe it. I need to take a picture of that. It's crazy how much kids learn by just watching us. Lately whenever we make any noise or gesture Sam tries to copy us. Time we really clean up our act! :) He's gotten really good though at "ruf ruf" and he copies me really well when I do a monkey sound.
Anyway so whenever I've tried letting him color since then he just starts eating the crayons. This week he at least colored for a few minutes before he started eating the crayons. I realize I post way too many pictures but if we take them I might as well, right?
He insists on holding the crayon/pen right at the end. He seemed to really be concentrating. He also took 3 steps last night! Hopefully he'll be walking soon. Doesn't he look so chubby? (photo below) This is after I gave him a hot steamy bath so his cheeks are very rosy. But I think he's gotten fatter recently.

We took a quick trip to Utah this weekend. We left Saturday morning at 6:30 am, dropped Sam off at Michelle's house (Caleb's sister) in Draper, then went to Mike McEwen's sealing at the Draper temple. Caleb taught Mike in the MTC. It was fun to get to know several other missionaries that Caleb taught. We went and picked up Sam (who did great by the way! I think he's pretty much over his stranger anxiety or whatever it was) and met Elder Nelson, Elder Taut (?) and Sister Parker at In-N-Out. That was one thing we definitely wanted to do in Utah is stop there and eat! YUM. Then Caleb dropped me off at Janae's house for her baby shower and him and Sam went back to the Jensen's. They picked me up a couple hours later and we headed home. It's nice that we live close enough to make quick trips like that. Actually...Or is it? jk It really is. 4 hours isn't bad at all.
When we got home we went over to Shelley Kindred's house to practice our song for Sunday. We decided to have Laura sing with us so she could sing the alto/descant parts. Daniel brought her down from Rexburg which was nice. We sang "I Heard the Prophet Speak", a family favorite! It went well. Caleb and I both had to teach the third hour (me in RS, Caleb in the Priest quorum) so it was a good thing Laura was there to take care of Sam! My lesson was on "The Law of Health" so we felt motivated to workout more consistently. Now that it's warmer it's SO much easier. Caleb and I switch off running each morning at 6:15 which is nice b/c there's not much wind that early.
I've gotten into couponing lately... not sure yet if it's worth my time but I decided to "have a go" at it for a couple months. It's fun if nothing else. I used to never go to Walgreens but now it's my favorite store! I just hope Walgreens isn't Sam's first word...
11 days til Sam's birthday!
