Our little Samuel is 9 months and a week old and is "as cute as ever" as my Dad likes to say. :) It's really true though. He is crawling everywhere, clapping, throwing tennis balls and his little football, pulling himself up to standing, and making all kinds of fun noises.
Although we do adore him, we also adored our date without him on Saturday night!! Thanks to Laura for babysitting. We went to the Vocal Point a cappella concert at BYU-I in Rexburg. It made it soo convenient to drop Sam off at Laura's since she's in walking distance from the Hart, where the concert was! The women's a cappella group Noteworthy opened the concert. They were both excellent. Here we are at the concert.
Sam did good with Laura. She's the only person we can leave him with without him crying the whole time! We appreciate Laura SO much.
Saturday morning we went to the church next door and played some good one on one basketball. Our court's perfect sized for full court one on one! I was itching to play after watching the BYU vs. San Diego State game on Wednesday. We'd planned to watch it with our neighbors, the Cabreras (also our renters) who we're good friends with. They assured us they had CBS sports, but when we got over there with our chips and dip just before the game started they only had regular CBS! We quickly called Texas Roadhouse since we had a giftcard there, and to our great relief they were showing the game. We got there quickly, got a table right by a big tv, and had so much fun watching BYU beat San Diego. What a game. Sam was so good too.
Saturday we also went to the Preparedness Store in town and found out some good info about food storage and got a few more things. I'm going back today probably to buy a wheat grinder. I make wheat bread every week now and so I'm really excited to be able to grind my own wheat!
Caleb's been playing basketball every Thursday with the Elder's Quorum and it's been fun to go watch him play. He's got quite the sweet spot lately, about 10 feet out on the baseline. For some reason it's always been my dream to sit on the sideline with my kids watching my husband play basketball. Maybe that's because we used to go watch Dad play when we were little, I don't know. But it's like a dream come true for me. Weird, I know. :)
Sam's still congested and we're really hoping we can get it to clear out soon. It feels like this cold has lingered FOREVER for all of us! Here are some recent pics of our little monkey:
I've been doing a little play group with my friend Brittany Steward. They just moved into the ward a few weeks ago. We had them over the Sunday after they moved in along with the Crooks and we've been great friends since. The Stewards have a 17 month old daughter and the Crooks have a son a day older than Sam. It's nice to have a little play group, especially since Lola's not coming to our house anymore. :( Sam really liked having Lola here. I'm going to try and find another kid to babysit I think... we'll see.
