Weekend 4 - Beach, funnel cake, shopping

We picked up Caleb a little early from work on Friday and drove to Point Pleasant beach. It should only take an hour but it took us about 2.5! Lovely traffic. We were happy to finally get there. We found our free parking as usual and hauled our swimming stuff out there but realized when we got to the shore that it was pretty windy and the water was cold so we chickened out on even putting our swimming suits on! We could've actually used jackets. Caleb and Sam ended up getting pretty wet anyway (those big waves really catch you off guard sometimes!) but we just enjoyed playing in the sand and watching the waves. I LOVE the beach.

Afterwards we got funnel cake (my FAV!) from the boardwalk they have there (it's like a carnival atmosphere). We always get home really late on weekends it seems, and of course when we're traveling our schedules get pretty thrown off. They've learned to be pretty flexible... most of the time. Saturday we stayed home so we could gear up for our trip the next day to Boston. Late morning I dropped Caleb and the kids off at a park and went shopping for 2 hours! Shopping is never as successful or as satisfying as I think it's gonna' be, ya' know?? Unless I'm with my sisters. Then it's a blast. I spent half an hour in Old Navy then went to check out and the line was half an hour long. I dropped my stuff and left. Don't you hate that?? Hopefully the alone time, productive or not, was as therapeutic as I needed it to be. :) We swam at our pool that night as a family which was lots of fun. We got Eliza some floaties and she is happy to be free in the water. She is NOT one to be constrained!
