ROADTRIP WEST - Part 2

The traveling crew

I drew this little van and taped it on the windshield and every time we crossed into another state we moved it to the left. When we made it to the rear view mirror, we were in Wisconsin. When we made it all the way to the other side of the windshield, we were in Utah! It really helped Sam at least understand how much further we had to go.

I used several traveling trips from online and one was to buy some $1 toys for the kids and wrap them. Whenever they were getting to "THAT point" I'd give them each a present. This $1 playdoh set kept Samuel entertained the longest! Eliza liked her pretend keys that made the noise of a car starting.

An extended bathroom break.

Caleb spotted this buck on the side of the road and we just HAD to go back and see it! It was pretty cool to feel the fur on the horns.

Stopped at Mt. Rushmore since it was less than 10 minutes out of the way.

We met a nice guy named Caleb from San Francisco who took our picture for us. Sam couldn't believe it: "TWO CALEBS??" :)
We made it to Draper around midnight on Monday. We were the last ones to arrive! Grandma and Grandpa Andersen rented a house for all of us to stay in for Laura and Tom's wedding. It was so great to be there with everyone!! We were all very glad to get out of the van although I was pleasantly surprised by how well the kids did. We read lots of books, sang songs, told stories, watched a couple movies, and enjoyed all our stops. We had some rough moments here and there, just like we do everyday when we're not traveling, but overall we had a great time! We love our two little trooper travelers.
